Sigourney WEAVER President of the Short Film Jury

American actress Sigourney Weaver, to whom the Festival paid tribute in 2008, will be the President of the Short Film Jury during the 2011 edition of the International Film Festival ofMarrakech.

“I am looking forward with great anticipation to seeing the work of the talented young filmmakers at the Cinécoles competition. The Marrakech film festival is uniquely positioned to host the most established and the most eagerly emerging filmmakers in this marvelous city where so many worlds meet.”

Sigourney Weaver, nominated twice for the Academy Award for Best Actress, succeeds to Volker Schlöndorff as President of the Short Film Jury of the Marrakech International Film Festival.

In 2010, the Festival launched its first short film competition, for students from Moroccan Cinema Institutes and Schools. Through this competition, the FIFM Foundation developed a space for cinema creation and job opportunities for young filmmakers.

CINECOLES SHORT FILM GRAND PRIZE
During the Closing Ceremony, the Jury will award a single "Cinécoles" Grand Prize, personally endowed by His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, President of the FIFM Foundation. This award will solely be dedicated to the directing of a second short film.

The FIFM Foundation will also support the making of this film by remaining involved in the writing, directing and editing process.
